Lynx Transport

Hi. I'm new to this site. We are coming to Orlando in September and staying at the Rosen Inn International. We stayed there last year and it was great.
We had a hire car last year and will be this time as well. We were wondering if the Lynx buses are any good for travelling to WDW and back to the Hotel. (Hubby doesn't want to drive as much as he did last year, says he can't have a drink
I know the hotel has a shuttle to Universal which is free. I think they also do one to WDW, but I believe they charge $15 each.
Has anyone had any experience of using Lynx transport, and what do you think of it.
Thanks
Andrea

Hi Andrea & welcome to the Dibb.

I have used the Lynx bus on a couple of our trips and personally would not choose to do so again.

They can get you pretty much anywhere for cheap but for getting to the Disney parks would involve a number of changes.

For example to get to Disney you would need to take the #8 bus to the stop outside of Seaworld. There you would transfer to the #50 which takes you to the Disney Ticket & Transportation Centre (TTC) which is basically like Disney's own bus depot. From the TTC you then need to take another mode of transport to the parks themselves (via monorail, ferry or another bus!).

Accounting for waiting around at the bus stops for the correct bus - I don't think it's unreasonable to say allow 2 hours to get to the Disney parks. And of course you have to do all of this in reverse to get back to the hotel again so it is a lot of time out of your day spent travelling (and standing around at un-shaded bus stops). I don't think the bus times coincided well with staying late to watch the fireworks either from memory - we had to get taxis back.

I would suggest looking into Uber. There is quite a bit of information on here but you may already be familiar with it. It's a much cheaper alternative to taxis all booked & paid for through a smartphone app.

Hope this helps, but any questions feel free to ask away!

Hi. Thanks for the quick reply. Iddn't realise it was so awkward to get to Disney using Lynx.
Oh well, back to the drawing board, and look for other options.
Thanks again.

Lynx buses run to a timetable. If you get a copy of this in advance a lot of the waiting around at bus stops can be avoided.

We stayed at the Rosen Inn International on our last visit to Orlando and used the Lynx buses to get to WDW. Most days the journey time was closer to 1 hour than 2 but I guess it depends in the time of year and how busy the roads are. We only resorted to taxis on a couple of occasions when we'd stayed late for the fireworks.

The Lynx bus system is very good and is fine for the parks, malls outlets and pretty much anywhere in Orlando you want to go. I can never understand people recommending the Trolley which doesn't run to a timetable, is crowded and has very uncomfortable seats.

An hour to get to the ttc?

Or the actual park?

Just wondering because we're staying near Disney springs and I'm thinking of getting a lynx to universal, 50 bus stop is near out condo.
