When do you do Alomo skip the counter

So got to the stage where I have paid the balance on my Alamo and got my voucher. I normally book the car at short notice or use AVIS.

So how near or far from pick-up do you normally do skip the counter?

I tend to do it when I'm bored! Probably 3 months before we go?

However you can do it whenever you like.

I generally do it about 3 weeks before we go in case the price reduces.

I haven't got a cancellation option, so sounds like I can do it now.

I booked through a 3rd party , that just mentions the kiosks, so it'll be interesting if some of the methods mentioned on here work.

same here, few weeks before leaving... randomly keep checking the price in the hope of further savings
