Mobile Gall bladder tumour

Just to say i am just enquiring, this is in the hands of medical professionals.
A friends mother was in great pain yesterday to the point she could no longer cope. Therefore my friend rang and was told to take her straight to hospital.
Scan showed a gallbladder stone and dots pointing to a tumour.
She was later sent home with pain killers & antibiotics and told that the doctor will ring her on Friday with results.

My friend is obviously thinking the worst. I have looked inline and cancer is extremely rare and more likely to be a polyp. Fingers crossed.
Obviously it is just a waiting game until official diagnosis is given. But has anyone had any experience in this area?
What happened etc?

Thank you

I don’t know about tumors, however I know gallstones can be very very painful, and in most cases, if you have painful stones they will wip your gall bladder out, I’d imagine they re concerned about infection, but can’t do anything with her gallbladder till they get the results and have a little less load on the hospital due to the virus.

The gallbladder is definitely going to be removed hopefully soon. The doctor is ringing regarding the tumour. I think the word tumour is scary. From what i can see it is more likely to be a polyp which does not sound as scary.
If that makes sense x x x

No my son did have a tumour on his liver and the cure was a transplant during which he did lose his gall bladder. He didn’t have any pain or any symptoms at all though. Hopefully no matter what it is if it’s just in the gall bladder then removing it will cure it x

My friend rang earlier. Her mum was taken back to hospital due to the pain.
The hospital have taken a biopsy and sent her home with morphine for the pain.
So its still a waiting game. I am still hoping it is a polyp rather than something more sinister

Gall stones are very painful. I also had an inflamed gall bladder and needed morphine for the pain, before and after the op.

Fingers crossed for your friends Mum.

Thank you. I am hoping that it just needs to be removed and then she will be Ok rather than the growth being anything sinister

If its any help to you I worked in Histopathology, in a busy Pathology dept for over 25 yrs. In all that time we didn't see any malignant GB tumours. Stones are so painful. I hope and pray that your friends mam is ok

Also there is a good prognosis if caught early and it is a malignant tumour. I am sure it wont come to that though. Poor friends mam. Bet she is in a lot of pain x
