He's clipped but lives out most of the year, just comes in when the ground gets really wet as he suffers from soft soles when they get water laden!
I think the rugs get trashed when he picks fights with the bigger horses in the field, he has serious short man syndrome !

The monster in my piccie (who I lost last year at the age of 27) was a serial rug trasher. It was a standing joke on our yard that he never had a rug that wasn't destroyed by the end of the winter.
I found Shires were good value, he always managed to trash them eventually but they were at a price where I didn't mind too much.

At this time of the year, there isn’t much difference between clipped and unclippped.
Does he get affected by flies especially? We have a livery yard and most are out naked. We have a mare who is quite warm, she tries to take her rugs off if she’s too warm

I bought a bridleway one last autumn, never again. Cheap rubbish. Buy Horseware or premier equine. There are active FB pages for 2nd hand ones.
Also to add I got a horseware rainsheet with 70% off recently so worth trawling the websites. Edited at 08:27 AM. |
