I agree.
My banking window is coming up soon but am I right in saying that I stand to lose all of my Sep 2020 borrowed points as they will go back into my Sep 2019 use year and I cannot use them before September 20. nor can I bank them as they were 'borrowed'!

That is so unfair!
Where is that Disney Difference?

The Policy seems to have changed as there is a post on the dibb whereby others managed to get their points 'unborrowed' and they were put back into the original use year?

THATS WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN!

If they pride themselves on fairness and want us to come back to Disney for our holidays in the future, I'd urge them to change this policy, especially in light of the difficult circumstances people are facing through no fault of their own.

Not much flexibility here.

I am so upset at the thought of cancelling our trip. We saved up hard for this over 2 years. There is no way I'd cancel the trip unless I had to.I stand to lose over €2k for the flights alone, let alone my points!

We are suffering enough without Disney's Policy making it worse for us.

I am particularly annoyed because some of us are being asked to 'volunteer' to help with the crisis, taking on duties we wouldn't normally do to assist and yet Disney cannot see their way to showing a bit of flexibility and compassion?

Whats going on?
Thats unheard of for them.

I feel like DVC members are not valued and we are being thrown to the dogs!

Rant over!

OK, heres what I've sent to Disney.

I am booked for July this year, using some borrowed points & cash via Walt Disney Travel. It took 2 years to organise and save up for this trip. In light of the current crisis, I was in the process of cancelling my july/august plans and deferring the trip until next year, when I heard that today, you have changed your Policy re cancellations. A few days ago, our members were able to have their 'borrowed' points returned to the ORIGINAL Use Year. Now that has stopped and many of us stand to lose a lot of points as a result? I am a VIP Passholder of a UK&Ireland Disney forum and I can tell you some of us are far from happy. Many of us stay for long periods over the summer, meaning we are affected disproportionately to other members. Its a long flight and in general, our holidays average 14-21 days, meaning we borrow or/and bank and tend to go every 2 years. At a time when we are called upon to be flexible and asked NOT TO contact member services unless we were booked up to 30/3, we now find many of us will lose out because we adhered to this and did not go online to cancel. Had we not acted upon this advice and insisted on 'clogging up' the system even more, we would not have lost out. Some of our members were assured a few days ago that if they cancelled, their points would be returned to that Use Year (& not holding) and borrowed points returned to ORIGINAL Use Year.
Now we find today that your policy appears to have changed?.
I have always valued my DVC membership and the Disney Difference but feel you have fallen short of expectations on this occasion. At a time when I'm being asked to take on duties to help with the crisis and to be flexible, I am shocked that Disney are not. I borrowed my points from Sept 20 Use Year. When I cancel my holiday, I will lose all of these points as I cannot fly before 1st September 20. I have already lost over €2k for my flights and am already traumatised that I cannot get to Disney this year.
The very least you can do is honour what we we were all told (and some have done already) iro borrowed points OR make some special arrangement re 'future' borrowed points or put them back into the ORIGINAL YEAR.

Please forward this communication to Senior Management.

Thank you

I had my points "unborrowed so have to use my points form this year by May 2021 and my borrowed points have been put back into next years allocation.

I did this a few days ago.

Is this a new policy?

The DVC web pages still says borrowed points will go back to the year they where borrowed from. What might be happening is that they have to manually move the points so maybe they have not go around to people yet. We are still waiting for some points to be moved out of holding from our last trip and where told it could take at least 2 weeks but that was before the resorts all closed so they could be quite busy at the moment.

Temporary Updates to Our Cancellation Policy

To make the process of changing reservations as smooth as possible, Disney Vacation Club has lifted the close-in reservation cancellation restrictions and will return any of your Points back as Vacation Points or Reservation Points without placing them into holding. In the meantime, all Points banking rules remain in place. While we understand the banking policy might create some frustration, please realize that this rule is in place to ensure that the Membership as a whole avoids future inventory constraints. Borrowed Points returned due to a cancellation of a Disney Vacation Club Resort reservation will not be placed in holding and will be returned to the Use Year they were borrowed from.

Very well put.

I highly recommend all of us post on the DVC facebook page, tagging them, conveying our anger about not being able to unborrow the points. They won't like the public exposure and we need to pressure them about this.

I'm thinking if selling now. Outrageous.

Why are the agents saying differently? Maybe they haven't been informed correctly.
