Helluva day….!

Well, that was a frightening Sunday! And will start by echoing recent posts ref the NHS, I’m so glad we have such a service.

Started the day at 05:00, early morning walk with Alfie (the dog). A beautiful morning and amazing sunrise. We were an hour into the walk and I suffered what at the time I can only describe as being the exact symptoms of a stroke. The whole left hand side of my body started tingling, went numb and my tongue felt like it had swollen resulting in slurred incomprehensible speech. There was nobody around, it was me and the dog… I couldn’t get my phone out my pocket then when I did it just dropped to the floor. Eventually picked it up and somehow managed to talk to a 999 call handler. A number of cars passed by and ignored the bloke sat on his ≈≈≈≈, slumped against a wall with a dog sat protecting him! Eventually a volunteer advanced first responder turned up shortly followed by the ambulance…. A passer who stopped managed to get hold of my wife, Dave the first responder took Alfie home and I went to hospital.
To cut a long story short, after 10 hours in resus and majors, an MRI, blood tests and consultations with the stroke consultant and neurology consultant it was determined not to be a stroke or TIA. Ultimately not 100% certain, but suspect it’s linked to my migraines and that my usual pattern of aura type migraines has maybe progressed!

So a dam scary day, but very pleased with the work of the NHS.
My thought for the day is live life to the full and do what makes you happy.

Oh god, what an awful scare. Really pleased to hear it wasn't a stroke. Big hugs and I hope you are home and comfortable with your feet up. Xxx

Really glad you are OK and good to hear another good news story about the NHS. Sounds really scary and kudos to a well behaved dog too.

He’s a legend Sue, he didn’t know what was happening but sat across my legs (fairly) patiently!

I wasn’t going to bother posting anything but remembered a couple of recent other positive NHS mentions and decided to add to them. Also, our local GP surgery gets frequent mixed reviews but I’ve had nothing but good service from them.

That sounds terrifying!
I am glad there does not appear to be more serious consequences.
A very spoilt Bondy for a few days?

That must have been so frightening for you and it’s good that a stroke has been ruled out.
Great service from the NHS too.
