Talk to me about staying onsite!

We’re here in Florida now, staying at my aunt’s house in Haines City. This has always worked well for us before we had children but we now have a 3 year old daughter and I’m a little envious of the people staying onsite being able to pop back for a rest and then carry on after!

We’ve been looking at the QSDP offer and thinking of coming back next August.

Is 2 weeks a lot to stay in a value resort? Does it make a huge amount of difference to stay in a value vs moderate / moderate vs deluxe?

We’ve literally never stayed onsite before and I just can’t decide what I should be looking for/booking!

Thanks in advance for any thoughts :-)

Values don’t get qsdp, they get one qs credit instead.

We love staying on site (typing from bed in Caribbean beach).

There’s a lot to like about staying onsite but the cost is eye watering at times. You’ll get plenty coming to tell you don’t do it, stay off site etc.

We love the Disney bubble. We landed yesterday, went to MK today and my wife’s already plotting a stay at the Polynesian for our wedding anniversary in 2027.

We love staying on site... just not the whole duration of our hols... we stayed 5 nights at Pop (free meal + drink) and that was just about right for us before moving on. No way could we have done 16 days free disney dining.

Pre kids we would always stay off site. Then we did 5 nights, then 7 nights. Now we own 2xdvc contracts!

It’s just so easy, as you say pop back for rest it’s just quicker and easier. And I know you can get hotels/villas very close. We have done it, it’s not the same.

The pools are great and the theming, plus there is something about the atmosphere. People you talk to in lift, cast members everyone is just as happy to be there as you. Especially with a little one I would do it.

As for cost, when you work it all out it isn’t that much difference from off site.

Mod vs Deluxe- you get a balcony at deluxe which I didn’t realise until we stayed at Pop how much I like.

With deluxe you get the ddp you get one table service meal per day. This can be good if you want to do lots of character dining which can be expensive. Other than that I’d go for a mod and qsdp.

We’re two adults and always stay onsite , ranging from values ( favourite is pop ) to the deluxes . You can’t honestly go wrong , the ease of just walking out your door and jumping on transportation is great , being able to hop back to your hotel if needed priceless ( more so for us if it’s weather related rather than child related lol)

You won’t regret it , and no two weeks isn’t to long it’s great

Jules

Although not Disney we stayed at Dockside in March for 9 days in a suite
We did have a great time but we missed
Having our own outside space
Actually having to get organised to go to the pool
The very limited cooking facilities a microwave and a coffee machine ( plastic plates not microwave save cutlery paper cups no decent knife or scissors )
Although not exceptionally noisy in the rooms the common areas were terrible
Of all the outside space was the killer for us especially in the evening and first thing in the morning
The trek to do laundry
We’d never have coped in one room for the 9 days just 2 of us
Glad we tried it though and never say never again

Excited about Disney

If we’re doing Disney parks we always stay onsite for at least a week and then sometimes go elsewhere if we want more space depending on our party size. For me the early entry, facilities & convenience is worth every extra penny especially early entry. We get so much done during this time before the mega crowds arrive. Prefer the moderates over value but wouldn’t hesitate to stay value if budget dictates.

We have children and always stay onsite. It is great to be able to get into parks early or leave later and come and go as you please. The meal options are also good if you have free dining as the portions are huge so you will always have plenty of food to choose from.
We also like that you can change your plans very easily if the children are tired/had enough.
We have always stayed in deluxe resorts but tbh, our children are teenagers now and we have said that a moderate and QSDP would probably be better. I think with little ones that may be the case too really.

Would you consider a split stay, half villa and half on site? If you stay at a moderate hotel you will get the QSDP rather than just the one meal at a value.
That way you can get the best of both worlds and figure out which option is best for your family. 🤩

I travel either solo or one half of a couple and we are nearly always onsite.

We have dabbled with offsite a little in the last year but I really missed the familiarity of being in the Disney bubble. That said I don’t mine a couple of nights offsite if I am going to be in a posh hotel like the Waldorf and I have done that a couple of times.

I do find the Disney transport very convenient although I don’t generally come and go during the day. It is not exactly popping back, it can still be quite time consuming.
