Pet Rats *** pics now attached***

Hi all

My 8 year old daughter has been nagging me for ages for pet rats, she saved up her money, we did our research and I made her write me an essay all about rats
cut a long story short we went to LOOK at some last night ( yeah right) we came home with two white rats, female.
I was just wondering if any of you own pet rats, its not something I have ever even considered before but the more I read the more I'm fascinated and can see us absolutely loving these little things.
Just wanted to see if anyone had any advice or tips that I may not have already read. its good to get other peoples perspectives I think.

They are highly intelligent, you can train them to do lots of things, they love being carried around, we used to have a rat bag that they would sit in and look out (only in the house)
They love climbing, so lots of stuff in their cage.
They eat anything lol

Thank you , we spent a small fortune on hammocks and different toys to rotate in their cage, they have a house each and a wheel. Really looking forward to teaching them some tricks I couldn't believe how clever they are.

My son had two pet rats when he was younger. They are really friendly, intelligent animals.

I think they are the perfect pet for children - I haven't had any yet but I expect will end up adopting a couple at some point in my life

Just be aware they don’t have a long life span so enjoy them while you can. Have fun teaching them tricks and make sure they don’t eat through your cables if they do get loose.

Any chance of a photo?

I am not sure I could have a rat as a pet.

My friend used to have pet rats, they would sleep behind your neck under your hair. Lively smart creatures. Love watching them when I go the pet shop. Sadly my rats would drive me batty if I got a rodent Haha.
