Had mine out 5 years ago and was kept in for 2 nights due to my bad heart. I had a long recovery period, again due to the pre existing conditions. My actual op was very straightforward, but I was given too much morphine after which affected my heart so took me a lot longer to get over it as was so weak. My mum is 68 and had hers removed in July and keyhole had to be reverted to open surgery so she had a long recovery too. I know people who have been back to work within a week or 2 so everyone is different. Good luck x

I had mine out by keyhole last year. I was in hospital overnight and back at work within two weeks. Back at the gym in four weeks.
I didn’t really have any pain. The first week post op I was very drained and this was apparently due to the anesthetic. On the plus side it was such a relief to get the gallbladder out after all the grief it caused me. |

My mum had hers out keyhole and a week off work but to be fair she didn’t get paid so she probably returned quicker than she should and she did return on light duties.

My mum had hers out a few months ago. She’s in her mid fifties and very fit/healthy. She had keyhole surgery and was home the same day. Immediately after she felt great.
Roll on to the next day and she was in pain. She was off work around three weeks and pretty immobile. After that she went back to work, but was in discomfort and some pain towards the end of the day for at least another 4 weeks. She is only just now starting to feel more normal and her doctor said that 6-8 weeks full recovery time was to be expected. |

I had mine out by keyhole 4 years ago, but did stay in overnight. I needed pain killers for about 4 or 5 days, and was ok after that. I would say it took me about a month to feel properly "well" again
Its the best thing ever though to not have any more attacks ... and to be able to eat what I want without fear of being in agony later!

I had mine out 8 years ago and stayed in overnight. Two of my DDs have had theirs removed at age 25 and were home the same day. We all had two weeks off work and all recovered fairly well. None of us have had any problems since. Good luck.

I'm self employed and was back at work two days later. I couldn't bend as it put pressure on the wounds otherwise I was fine, no pain at all.

Had mine out a few years ago... spent one night in hospital and was back at work (office) after 2 weeks.
Someone else I know came home the same night and was back at work within a week! Hope it goes well! |

Suffered from “trapped wind”for four years. Absolute agony .
Keyhole removal Thursday, discharged Friday and off to a house party Saturday . Off work for a week, desk job. No pain relief at all but I was just glad to have it out as the pain had been horrific. I do think I have a high tolerance to pain and probably should have been admitted as an emergency before then but would never let OH phone during one of my episodes. |
