Quebec 2016 - On y va LIVE - Day 21 - Montreal And Shopping
Time to leave the rural life and head back to the city. The day started with a mist but soon cleared. We had breakfast and DH and I finished up the packing and tidying up. It has been nice to have the space over the last 3 weeks. One last trip down to the river. DD loved this place and really didn't want to leave! It was a long drive on the same road along side the river. I drove (with a not so hidden agenda - if I drove now DH would drive in Montreal. I hate driving in cities! We all fancied the jet skiing down the river option (we tried to find a jet ski rental but couldn't earlier on the week) We stopped for lunch at Cora - a chain restaurant doing diner type good. I had an egg sandwich with potatoes and fruit. DH had eggs, potatoes and blueberry pancakes. The kids both had a pancake with nutella and banana. It was all yummy and filled a hole. We made it to the hotel which is near the Olympic stadium. It is ok but nothing special. We headed straight out into Montreal on the metro. We bought weekend tickets for $13.75 each. We went to the Eaton Centre - a mall in the middle of Montreal for some retail therapy. DD found some clothes in Garage and another Canadian store that she lived last year. Then we were enticed into Guess which had a promotion on. We got cocktails, macaroons and D D got her nails done. DS found t- shirts and jeans (he hates shopping so this was a triumph) and we got a freebie - a handbag with goodies in it including a $20 gift card. DD went back in to get some pins she had seen but vetoed as too expensive. So everyone was happy! We had dinner in the food court. The kids had salmon terriaki with rice. We had a felafel pita. The foodcourt had a lot of options! At least we all had some veggies! Ice cream was then had by three members of the family We were flagging so headed back on the metro. We got back to the hotel at about 8pm. Being all in the same room is going to be a challenge At least I have the smallest bed partner - and the stillest. Poor DH get to share with DS who can fidget for Britain! Tomorrow I think we will go to the Fine Art museum! Edited at 02:59 AM. |

This looks like a lovely day! Love a bit of retail therapy, and again, food looks great! How long are you in hotel for?

A bit of retail therapy is always good. A completely different few days ahead from the quietness of your rural retreats.

Must be an adjustment after all the space and solitude you have had. Nice to get a bit of shopping done though. I have been to Montreal and liked it there.

Have really enjoyed your trippy Mel & DH n I will miss all the lovely pic's of places like those we only see covered in deep snow (even Montreal!). If you've never done it you must see Quebec in the snow & the Ice Hotel sometime. The children would love the toboggan slide in the centre of the old town & rubber tubeing in the snow not to be missed! Enjoy the rest of your time.

I've nearly caught up! Although, I'll miss living vicariously through your trip!
An Eaton centre is a nice change of pace. I like a bit of mall shopping. I wish so many hadn't got rid of their food courts over here. Hope you all slept well in the one room. I bet it really helped that O and F had their own rooms most of the holiday.
