It's the back to school weekend where certain "school supplies" are tax exempt. Recent years there been less and less exempt. The 2017 allowances haven't been released yet.

We bought an ipad mini year before last - with the tax free it was sub $200 from Walmart - easy to take back to Asda here if you have any problems

Tax is so low it is hardly worth the effort. I think sales tax is only 6.5%
