Beating queues in universal
We are travelling to Disney for the last two weeks of August. I have used your guides to plan which parks are best on which days. This I may change as universal not out yet. I am hoping on two visits. We are not staying on site so will not have the benefits that brings.
Any advice on making the most of our visit. 5 Adults and a thirteeen year old. Many thanks |

Simply get to the park just before opening to the public,it will be relatively quiet,so for the first hour or so you can get on with it,it will get busy mid morning, have a plan of what you are going to do,this helps, bondy.

Get there for opening, slow down for lunch / early afternoon and stay late.

As Bondy said, an early start is definitely advisable. Prioritise your must do rides especially if they include the HP rides, water rides at IOA, Minions, which all draw huge crowds. Think Kong still has longer waits as it is relatively new.
If HP is your thing, try visiting later in the afternoon/evening too as crowds tend to drop off a bit then. |

What worked well for us was arrive early, left park about 12 for large lunch, hit the pictures a dn went back into the park about 4pm having been in air conditioned bliss for the worse part of the day. At 4 pm people were streaming out of the parks looking hot and flustered!

Last time we did our two nights at Portofino Bay at the start of the holiday and made the most of our FOL passes. We then decided to go for one more evening near the end of the holiday ( I think it was a Sunday night ) and were pleasantly surprised at how many rides we were able to get done between about 6-10pm. It's something we'll certainly try again.

Single rider lines are also a good idea. Gringotts and forbidden journey for example but you do miss the theming which is pretty good. 😀

Either arrive early or later on ad others suggest. Take advantage of single rider lines
Depending which weeks you are going (you say last 2 weeks of august but not sure of that takes you into september? We went 21/8/16) after about the 28th the crowds and lines reduced significantly! We walked straight on to most rides at universal even kong which had a wait time of 60 mins most other times. We went when the weather wasnt so great too which seemed to put lots of folk off! Down load the universal app wait times seemed fairly accurate to me! |
