Is it the same if you book through BA but it's an AA codeshare flight?

I assume you mean a BA ticket with flight on AA metal. If so then absolutely. Once on board all pax are treated the same (apart from those up front!).

We are on that route too! I'm interested to see what people make of it. We have usually travelled via Atlanta in the past so we have done some research on the Phily airport layout first before we go. Our return is through Chicago which is new to us too.
