Sky/DVD problem.

We have tried to watch a DVD and its suddenly gone black & white.
Hubby thinks he touched something last night. So I don't know whats happening.

I rang Sky, we have Sky protect, but have been on hold for 1/2 an hour, so just rang Sky.. and they said its probably our DVD.
Can anyone offer any advice... is it our DVD ?

Thank you. x

I know this sounds simple but have you checked all the connections are plugged into the DVD player/TV properly?

What makes you ring Sky if a DVD is black and white ?

Is a DVD and Sky in black and white ?

Does the DVD player work OK on another TV ?

What are the color of the menus on the TV? (colour or B&W?)

Do aerial freeview channels work ok ?

Rule out which device is at fault and report back

Sorry I'm confused, like Rick. Why did you call sky if it's a DVD that's gone black and white. That's nothing to do with the sky box surely?

I used to sometimes get colour issues with my previous TV/DVD setup. The remote handset had a button that changed the input source to the TV so that it expected a signal via an S-video cable, rather than via a scart connection. This always caused the colours go wrong like a B&W picture etc. It may be worth a look to see if the input to the TV is coming from the right DVD output source.

We had this when we upgraded our TV everything worked ok except DVDs were only in black and white, turns out we had too many cables plugged in the back of the TV. Hope you get it sorted.

If the picture itself is fine and it is B&W, I think this is the culprit. This can happen when swapping composite and s-video signals.

Yes, it's probably the DVD. Have you tried a different one? If that's black and white too the it's the DVD player. It's probably the cable between the TV and the DVD player that's been knocked.
