Any Summer Camp 2020 parents out there

Just wondering if everyone’s plans have been cancelled. My DS is sponsored through Interexchange and they’re still talking about him going (end of May), but his flight was cancelled by Norwegian Air this week so looks increasingly unlikely!

Not heard anything yet. They've said my daughters camp may be moved back to July but I honestly cant see it going ahead.

Thanks for the response, my DS girlfriend works at the camp year-round and they are currently furloughed with no date to return so not looking good. I’m not sure whether to book him another flight - just in case - or wait and see (with the risk that the cost will go up if borders reopen). However I keep reminding myself these are first world problems - I work for the NHS so this is the first day off for a few weeks and trying to get things in some semblance of order whilst I have some free time 🙃

We FaceTimed Izzys camp director this week. She’s in isolation at camp in Pennsylvania. She told us that the returnees from last year have either had their visas revoked or the ones who hadn’t applied yet now can’t get appointments at the embassy.

At her camp, the majority of staffers are from overseas, just a few Americans, so she was beginning to make plans for a different type of summer camp, probably just day camps instead, to be run with reduced staff numbers anticipating no overseas staff being able to attend.

Hi - just an update...DS visa didn’t come back with his passport from the embassy, it was declined (with a note to resubmit - no appt or embassy visit needed) due to the borders closing

But this week camp informed all internationals that they won’t be able to come to camp but are welcome next year

Camp is likely to become a day camp but is unclear still

Of course DS is disappointed but sensible enough to know this is in everyone’s best interests

However, anyone know how a visa decline will look going forward as he now won’t be able to get it resubmitted and the decline overturned 😳

I had a j1 visa declined (due to a damage passport) they told me to return my new passport with the documemts and it would be approved. I got the new passport at had my visa within a week.

Now when I apply for a esta, I click the yes to being declined a visa question and enter the date and location and so far the esta come back approved in around 48 hours. I think im on my 4/5 ESTA

Not this year as Olivia is busying with studyand work part times however she was talking about Canada Camp next year so wait and see.

She enjoyed football coaching last year but she said it was hard work as she came home early after 8 weeks.

She want doing summer camp next time

Unfortunately this year I don't think anyone can go as difficult to get flight to USA until September. Olivia was so lucky that she went last year and she had a great experience.

Kate’s universal program has also been postponed until next year, we had a 3 week trip to meet her. Hopefully we can all rearrange for next year.
