These are the only roller I will use how having been disappointed with most that I have used in the past 30 years.

This is the 12" version, but there is a 9" one as well. For walls and ceilings it is well worth going for the longer rollers.

For behind radiators I use Harris varnish rollers as they are thin enough to het behind without getting paint on the back of the rads.

They do skid a wee but but still worth the hassle.

Guys let’s get basic, are you going to keep and look after them properly. Most people say yes and in reality don’t. Local paint shop 2 sleeve roller pack with handle and tray £4 , good for 3/4 rooms easily and quality good. Be realistic with what you need.

The finish that you get from a good roller is much better than the cheap ones.
I now buy the good ones, but still cant be bothered washing them so they end up in the bin. Still well worth it to get a good finish as I will be looking at it for many years.

My garage is racked end to end. I have tools in there from when I started my trade aged 15 in 1970.

Good as the day they were bought. I loathe slinging stuff albeit I don't hoard.

I like to buy good gear and clean it up well.

My best buy ever was a Disston handsaw imported from America in 1971. I paid nearly £30 back then! Awesome tool.

I am going to have an interesting few weeks. My dad has decided he wont be using his tools again so wants me to go through them with him and see what I want. Some of the stuff was handed down from his dad and grandfather. It will be facinating. In tools, buy cheap, buy twice.
But I hate washing rollers.

Good prices on E Bay for used tools.

Hi again I have found over the years that its more important the quality of the paint and the wall prep.

DH says it doesn’t really matter what brand of brush is used for a diy project. Tool station have good packs of mid priced brushes no need to spend too much.. Pure bristle brushes for oil based paint (gloss, undercoat etc) Nylon brushes for water based paints (emulsion) Purchase trade paint as the paint is much better quality.

DH uses Hamilton perfection plus and Purdy brushes and Purdy rollers.
