do you swim in the sea in the UK?

I dont know why but despite being on many UK holidays and on many beautiful beaches in this country I have never, or would ever, swim in our sea. I haven't ever even worn a swimsuit or bikini on a beach in this country I sometimes paddle and my children would go in and stay by the edge but I have no desire to join them yet cant wait to go in the sea when abroad. The sea in Portugal and Lanzarote was pretty chilly but still went in so coldness cant be an excuse.

I did my PADI open water diving certificate in Plymouth. I have done some other UK dive training. But no I would not otherwise swim in UK waters for pleasure.

Yes I do. Some of my favourite memories from norfolk holidays with the children and dogs were made in the sea at West Runton near Cromer.
I’ve swam in the sea in this country since I was a child and husband grew up in Worthing so was similar.

Not since I stopped diving (age).

Even though my nearest beach is 2 miles away, it water is too cold even in August.

Always swam in U.K. waters - very rarely anywhere else in the world - too much of a pension trap with all those Nobbys about!
Once did “hands to bathe” of an aircraft carrier in the Red Sea, it was like swimming in a hot bath! Didn’t linger long in the water though !

Plus I was born yards from the North Sea so we started early!

A couple of years ago when we had the really hot summer we were in the sea at 10 at night and it was like a bath, I love swimming in the sea, there's something really liberating about it.

Hubbie goes in sea in his wetsuit for his Triathlon training, I don’t fancy it looks very dirty to me 😳

Often pop down to Southsea after work in the summer, it's great after a hot day in the factory. My choice would be Southbourne, just to the east of Bournemouth, never seems busy, even at weekends in August, unlike the main Bournemouth beach which is crammed.

My Mum used to swim all year from Southsea, even in her 80s, often making the local paper when it was snowing .

The North Sea at Scarborough, the Atlantic in Cornwall and the English Channel on the Isle of Wight have all hosted my Speedos over the years.

Maybe 40 years ago though and it's the Gulf at AMI for me now. Speedos sent to tip.
