Halloween this year?

Went in to Home Bargains today and they had all the Halloween stuff out, got me thinking... I’m
Not sure I’m comfortable with my kids going round putting their hand in the same sweets pot as loads of others...do I want loads of kids coming to our door?! My son looked so upset when I said we might have to do something different this year, it’s such a lovely atmosphere on our estate with all the kids having fun. What could I do to make it as memorable for him without going door to door?! Will it even be discouraged this year?

We have Gullivers annual passes but I’m not sure they do anything into the evening for Halloween. It just got me thinking!

We were saying the same thing yesterday-it’s a Saturday this year too so would imagine our estate would have been buzzing with excitement. We normally do a big display that’s well known in the estate. But I agree with you on allowing children to have sweets at the door.

I’ve already told my kids it’s too risky to be knocking on people’s doors & collecting sweets from bowls that everyone has stuck their hands in. I’m more than happy to buy my kids some Halloween sweets and watch a movie with them instead. The kids have agreed (although in a couple of weeks it might be a different story if their friends suddenly invite them to go trick or treating), but the kids know I don’t really like Halloween & having to walk around in cold, dark evening, although I always take them. I always joke with them that once Halloween is over I can concentrate on Christmas! 😂

I think we’ll pass this year too .
I don’t really like trick or treating anyway but our area is very popular for its displays and people come from all over the town to see them and trick or treat .
Dd will be upset but I think it’s for the best to maybe keep the displays to walk around and look at but no trick or treating, it’s just too risky .

Halloween had not entered my mind to be honest. But thinking about it, I really doubt trick or treating will be advised.
My little lad will be gutted

I was only thinking this the other day. My kids are grown now but we get a lot of trick or treaters here. I won’t be giving out sweets this year. I would hate to potentially put anyone at risk.
Maybe you could do a ‘Halloween Hunt’ instead... a bit like an Easter egg hunt?

We normally do Halloween massively as it’s one of my sons actual birthday and my other sons is the 30th
It’ll be so sad not to do the big display etc
We may look at
Alton towers or
Somewhere

Yeah I’m thinking an event where they get dressed up And get back late so they don’t feel they’ve missed out. I probably won’t decorate either, kind of a thing on our estate, you only go to decorated houses.

I've thought the same. We are supposed to be in Menorca but cant see that happening. We usually decorate the front garden and welcome trick or treaters but really not comfortable doing it this year. How do we stop people knocking ? You would think most would have common sense not to allow their children to knock houses but I'm sure there will be some still doing it.
Maybe a sign on the door, saying do not knock due to current pandemic ?
