Would never do it. They need to be fitted so that they work for you. The line between reading and distance is precise. I normally get my varifocals from Asda. Due to lockdown I ended up at local optician and paid over £300 for the new super varifocal, wider view, blue tint which you can't see but stops headlight glaring etc. I always wondered if getting a better lens would make a difference and to be honest it does.

However point of story was I still went to Asda to get a backup pair. I put them on and reading wise I couldn't get anything below line 8 on the card. The other glasses I could do line 3 easily and line 2 a bit.

They double checked and the fitting was according to them 2mm off what it should have been which was why it didn't work. I have to take their word for it but 2mm in my mind in nothing but must be important for varifocals.

If you are close to Cambridgeshire, cannot recommend this lot enough.

I priced mine up online, the £15 frames ended up being £177. Only a few pounds cheaper than usual, so definitely not worth it for me. I used to use Tesco optician but it is now vision express. The glasses are so expensive there so I take my prescription elsewhere to get my glasses ( a family run place) . When my next eye test is due I will also go there to get my eyes tested.
