Cancer cruelly took my Mum on 10/10/20.

She was diagnosed last September, had a huge operation in November.
In springtime she begun to feel brighter and my parents were feeling positive.

Sadly, she began to decline again in August and in late September we learned there was nothing more docs could do.
My lovely,fiesty, determined Mum came home with fantastic palliative care and died 23 days later.

It still feels very strange.
I don’t know how I’m going to get through her funeral on Monday.
And my Dad is totally bereft.
They were together over 58 years.

We had a very similar situation. Mum was diagnosed with ovarian cancer ( very strong lady, never really been ill, it was such a shock), full hysterectomy and she started to rally but a month later they said the cancer had returned like a ‘tiger’ and there was no hope. She battled through 3 chemo sessions that were brutal but sadly we lost her on 31st Oct 2 yrs ago. She was 71 and her and dad had been together 53 yrs. We were utterly bereft and still are, but we can now remember her with a smile-at first that was so hard to do. The funeral was so hard but so beautiful as well, she had planned it- it killed us as the time but we were so grateful she did, my lovely older brother did the most beautiful eulogy we were so so proud. It still kills me to see dad on his own, he is lost without her, we all are but we are closer than ever which is what she would have wanted. I’m so sorry you are going through this, especially at this time, my heart goes out to you all..💔 just take every day as it comes, the firsts of everything are brutal, that first Christmas without her was so so hard but last year we managed to raise a glass and a lovely smile to her memory. It hurts so much but in time you will feel a little better, I still cry, I still miss her so much but 2 years is early days in my mind. Love to you all at this very very sad time.❤️

Thinking and praying for you I know how hard this is.

I lost my dad 10 years ago and it ripped me in half I could not concernetrate and I know everyone was different but for me I was worried that I would forget him but I never have and know I never will. I know it does not seem it now but it will get easier it will take time but it will and all the positive memories will become stronger and overide the horrible later ones.
