Do people still use cotton hankerchieves in this day of tissues?

As the title says really, was quite surprised when a friend said among the list of things she ironed was hankerchieves,

Yes we do. We went on a bit of a mission to reduce the number of single use items. I don’t iron them though. 😁
Having read the other replies I should clarify that I use a clean cotton handkerchief every day and use recycled tissues if I have a cold. 😉

I prefer tissues myself as I find them more hygienic. I know a few older people though who prefer actual handkerchiefs due to saving waste.

Both DH and I use them. I prefer them to tissues. The only tissues I like (if I’ve got a heavy cold) and the ‘balm’ ones.

Lou, obviously doesn't apply if you're aware, ASDA's Shades 3-ply balm tissues are very good.

My da uses cloth hankies, ma and hubs use both, whereas I'm Shades all the way.

When I was a kid in junior school, we wore red jumpers. I can always remember the congealed, scrummy, white cuffs of some of my fellow pupils sleeves. I must have been ‘posh’ , as I had hankerchiefs

Now, I am afraid that it is tissues.

I have dozens of them. Always carry one with me. Sad to say the new ones nowadays aren’t the quality of my older ones.
