DAS phone call……any point ?

With my 30 days fast approaching I really don’t know if there is any point in even putting myself through the process

I have MS and out and about use my electric wheelchair

Obviously in no way does this deal with a lot of my symptoms but I’m sure once they know about the wheelchair it will be a straight denial

I know with no DAS my trip is going to be greatly affected so feel it might be worth an attempt but I hate the thought of having to try and justify myself ( I hate the thought of anyone who needs it having to justify themselves)

What an absolute disgrace this has all turned into

On some rides you have to transfer to a manual wheelchair before joining the queue which means you bypass most of the line - Peter Pan, Jungle Cruise & Pirates for instance. And on Spaceship Earth you wait by the exit of the ride to be escorted to the loading platform.
I’ve a solo trip coming up and as my DAS was declined it will be interesting to see how I get on with an ECV this time as I can’t self propel!

Thank you

I have always been allowed to stay in my wheelchair as it’s much more manoeuvrable than an ECV. It can click off to make it a manual chair if needed and for short distances my husbands can push me ( not for too long though as it’s far too heavy)
I can walk shorts distances and stand for five or ten minutes as long as my leg isnt going into spasms although I fall quite a lot so need to be careful

It's just the thought of having to explain at each ride my problems that is making me want to try and do the video call but I just dread doing it and being told I don’t qualify

Will need to put on my big girl pants I think and give it a go and do the video call

The whole thing is a joke now and after the palaver and stress my wife had to endure on our recent trip (returned on Monday) we are seriously wondering if we should bother with Disney anymore!

My wife was denied DAS but told she can leave the queue if she needed to and return to where she left. Great on paper but when you are stuck in a queue like Rise or Mickeys Railroad where their aren’t exits that are easy to get to or aren’t anywhere near then it becomes impossible.

Sadly Disney simply don’t care anymore and it’s all just a ruse to push you towards paying for a LL instead! It just isn’t enjoyable anymore so we don’t see the point, we’d rather save our money and go elsewhere from now on

I am sorry your wife found it difficult . It’s so sad.

We have this trip planned and we have annual passes that expire in January

We will see how it goes. Even in January with DAS I found it hard work.
We have said that if it stops being enjoyable we shall maybe think about selling our DVC

I could give so much evidence of my problems if only they would change their policy and accept proof

Universal was great as the IBCCES system they employ works fine and stops those who were faking it from abusing the system. Why Disney won’t follow suit I don’t know!

It just puts to much stress on what is already quite a busy day and by the end of our two weeks we found we were both exhausted mentally from the worry. We aren’t asking to “jump the queue” as we are quite happy to wait outside of it for however long the standby queue is, my wife just wants to be able to experience Disney as an able bodied person can and currently that isn’t possible.

Never mind, we’ve been 12 times now so maybe it’s time for a change

It’s not right that your decision is being influenced though

Like you we have been many many times but what about those who are on their first trip etc ?

I really feel for them
