Tell me about December
Hi all
Off to Orlando at the very end of Nov into December. Only ever been in October and May before. I’ve got some questions about going this time of year if anyone can help out! 1. What are the temps like? I know it’s changeable but overall what’s it like coming from the UK? 2. What will crowds look like roughly? Crowd calendars are saying mid crowds but I’ve heard it’s very low after thanksgiving. We’re actually flying in on thanksgiving and plan to uber to our hotel. Anyone know if we’ll be waiting ages for one or paying out more than usual due to the holiday? Any other advice welcome! Thank you Dibbers |

We went last year, we flew on the Friday, the day after Thanksgiving and stayed for 12 or 13 nights.
Temperatures were very nice, definitely plenty of shorts and T-shirts weather. But best to check the forecasts before you go, in case there are any unusual weather fronts coming in. I would say that the parks were pretty quiet for four or five days immediately after Thanksgiving, but after that I would say “medium” is a fair description. I don’t think I would ever say very low, not sure that ever happens at WDW anymore. |

Thank you! That’s good to hear re weather. I think I’m just going to have to pack for all temps. Yes I suppose very low crowds would be a miracle now haha!

I went in 2021 end of November and first 10 days of December.
Not sure if this is usual but it was very warm every single day with average day temps of 28/29 and even the low at night was only 17/18. Was sunny every single day except one afternoon which was slighty cloudy and we didn’t see a drop of rain. |

I was there over Thanksgiving last year and wore shorts the entire time. The only time I regretted it was sitting through Fantasmic one night, it got quite cold but the rest of the time fine. Took a hoodie out a few nights but that was more about having pockets. All depends what you're used to/comfortable with. I massively overpacked for it being colder and didnt wear half the stuff.

We've been there over thanksgiving and the 1st week of Dec a couple of years ago. The weather was shorts/t-shirts after midday, we found you needed a jumper in the morning. In the evenings it felt a lot colder, jeans and a hoody, DH stayed strong with shorts as a true northerner.
Crowds around thanksgiving were v.busy but the 1st week in Dec saw the crowds drop off to an averge day, deffiently not quiet as Mickeys Very Merry Parties started. |

We were there end nov - mid dec last year and while it was warm enough most days for shorts/tees it got really cold really quickly in the late afternoon/evening and some evenings were freezing - we ended up going to Walmart and buying gloves & hats ect even oh who rarely feels the cold gave in a wore a hoodie. It was a lot colder than I expected it to be though they did say it was cooler than usual.
The day after we arrived I think it only hit a high of 16 though it did warm up over the next few days and was a perfect 28 on the Friday when did dc. Despite the temps not actually seeming that low compare to the uk Florida cold is totally different to the uk and I understand now why they close waterparks ect We also had some really torrential wind & rain which meant we had to skip the seaworld Xmas event I’d wanted to go to and unfortunately didn’t get a chance to reschedule as it was only on weekends after 4pm the dates we were there. Day times were still mostly warm enough but definitely needed warm jumpers ect for the mornings/evenings We did Disney the 1st week of December and it was very busy it’s supposed to be a quieter time but it was the busiest it’s ever been when we've visited literally seemed like wherever you went it was crowded- Epcot was horrendous around the world showcase shoulder to shoulder nowhere to go busy never seen it that bad. Sea world & Busch on the other hand were totally dead - most rides were walk ons or wait 1 turn don’t think we waited more than about 5-10 mins for anything and they had ridden everything multiple times by lunchtime. The Xmas decorations ect are fantastic and I’m really glad we went but the weather wasn’t great though it wasn’t technically the usual for that time Edited at 03:27 PM. |
