I agree with RickT. Imho your boss is taking advantage, no way should you be in that position. You will need to find out where you stand regarding tax/working the extra hours. How many hours would it be? 😊

If I get the job with the care i will be starting off doing bank hrs which I can do on my days off my boss is like that with all the work staff

Yes, I bet he is like that with all the staff, he's taking advantage of all of you.
You'll need to put yourself first; should imagine you'd have to tell the care home which days you're available. What will you do if your boss asks you to work and it clashes with the bank hours? Heidi, I don't know how it'll work - regarding tax and bank hours, hopefully, someone will come along who can help. Hope it all works out for you. 😊 Edited at 09:55 AM. |

Thank you Bella9 and yes she is like that with all the staff she has her favourites and yes I will have to tell the care home when I’m off I’ve got plans if she asks me to work on my days off plus I’m the only one that does the night shift which is only 6pm till 10pm

Yes, tell her you're unavailable, and stick to your guns, she may try to guilt-trip you into working, especially as you've helped her out regularly, by the sounds of it. On the other hand, you will have benefitted by the extra pay, I suppose. Pretty sure with care work, over time, you can build up more hours or higher paying shifts, e.g evening. Everything crossed that you get the job. |

She as said previously conflict of interest incase someone is sick or has a holiday booked or hospital appointment meaning we have to cover for them
