With a red/blue bias, Michael Foot (it does what it says on the tin) or Michael Portillo, a wonderful speaker who brings people together.

Exactly. People with all sorts of political beliefs but they seemed honest and decent beliefs. Even if we didn’t agree with one side or the other at least MPs had character.

I liked listening to Margaret Beckett and always felt she was “left behind” somehow.

John Enoch Powell, an amazing nan I had the pleasure in meeting.
Wonderful orator and an eye for the future.

Airey Neive, a man tragically lost before his time.

Norman Tebbit, my personal hero, is a great ban, but still think John Enoch would have made the better PM.

Clarke, another person I have met I wouldn’t wee on him if he was on fire

John Smith would have made a good leader I feel. Although I have a selfish wish that Roy Jenkins had been PM as he was my dad’s cousin 😂

Agree with you with regards Portillo.

I'm really hopeful we can add Boris to that list by Wednesday. I'm happy to call him a "great politician" if the flip side of that is that he isn't PM

Hunt is not ideal but he certainly isn't in the same league as Boris when it comes to incompetence

Portillo gets better with age, if he'd waited 10 years before becoming an MP I'm sure he would have been PM

However in his political prime he was devisive and generally hated - no way he would have garnered enough support to make a leadership challenge (or more importantly win one)
