Which off-site hotel to pick?

Hi,

My 6 year old son and I have annual passes and I'm booking a budget trip for us at the end of the summer holidays.

I've booked our flights, but can't decide which hotel to go for.

I've always stayed on site previously, but can't afford to do that this time.

Which would you recommend out of the following for us (and why if possible). We won't spend a lot of time at the hotel at all, but I do want somewhere clean, safe and with relatively easy access to the parks.

Options are:

Camanile Val De France
Vienna House Dream Castle
Vienna House Magic Circus
Explorers

Any advice is very welcome. Thank you!

For me, none of those as I don’t want to be tied to a shuttle, and there are loads of budget options nearby.

Next time we are staying in the Ibis Val d’Europe. It’s costing us just over £200 for three nights. It’s a 5 minute journey on the RER. You can also get the shuttle bus but the RER is more frequent and much less crowded.

We have also stayed in the Elysee which was lovely.

We considered Hipark Serris which is walking distance, and also Residhome and Adagio, though we haven’t stayed in them.


Campanile used to be the Kyriad which got mixed reviews.

I agree with Gill - I would definitely recommend staying at Val d'Europe, its such an easy transfer and you don't have the scrum for the shuttle bus which I have experienced at the Dream Castle.
We have stayed on-site just twice, in the Dream Castle once (first visit - learnt a lesson very quickly) and at Val d'Europe twice (once in Residhome and once in Elysee). We are going back at Halloween to stay in the Relais Spa.

Hipark is my favourite, walking distance and has a shuttle. Best of both worlds imo.

Ibis is good too although the air con was broken when I went in June on one of the hottest weekends of the year. Every other time I've been has been fine though.

in defence of the Dream Castle/Magic Circus/Kyriad/Explorers shuttle - yes its a scrum but its perfectly doable and personally, even with a 6-year old I'd do the Magic Circus or Dream Castle again (I wasn't so keen on the Explorers, very noisy corridors, loads of kids running around, and very noisy neighbours in our adjoining room).

Fair enough, having watched videos of them recently it does look like they are good for families.

Val d’Europe is so near. Last time we stayed at Elysee we left the park at closing time, and 15 minutes later walked into the room, having stopped to get drinks at the bar!

Are the buses that bad if you aren’t leaving the parks at closing?

We stayed at Explorers and going back soon with our 10 month old. We used the shuttles and had no bother at all, even on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day when the parks were mobbed. NYE we left after the fireworks and it was still fine

My children loved the pool at Explorers, and the whole theme of the hotel. We stayed in a princess suite, which they also loved, especially having their own room, but it did cost us double the price of a standard room, even with a voucher code (it was a Christmas treat.)

Having said that, we only stayed there for our last night, and had our car with us (it was parked at the DLH, so we left after the 10pm fireworks and got to Explorers quickly and easily.) We didn’t have park tickets for the next day, so spent the morning in the pool, before setting off home. We generally like to walk to the parks when we’re onsite though, so I can see the appeal of the closer offsite hotels listed above.
