Honestly, I hated driving lessons too and I'm not even that keen on driving now. I've been driving for about 15 years now and it's fine, I just don't understand how anyone can take pleasure from it. Driving just gets me from A to B, it's a necessity

It took me three years to pass, during which time my wonderful instructor helped me discover that I am probably dyspraxic. I passed eventually but then almost immediately moved to London where I didn’t need a car and couldn’t afford one. I haven’t driven for 30 years. I absolutely hated it but I am going to need to get back to it soon. We are moving to Wales to be near my elderly parents, and I will need to be able to drive there.

It must be so difficult to learn to do the both together.
Very good observation. Like motorcyclists have to it would be so much better if learner drivers for cars could have some type of training area such as a disused airfield etc.

Lack of land would be the issue I suppose.

I too was driving at 15 on the buildings. That included up to 32 ton excavators that have levers not a steering wheel.!

It took me a long time to learn to drive. I don’t think I dreaded lessons, but they were not an enjoyable thing either. I am afraid no, it never “clicked” with me, it took time and perseverance.

I hated learning to drive and it took me 2 years of lessons before I was ready to sit my driving test.
Once I passed I couldn’t afford a car so didn’t really drive that much. I then worked in London so didn’t need one and finally got my own car 8 years later.
Driving for me is a means to getting somewhere. It’s not something I love but I’m confident once I’m on the road.
