I wonder if these days grandma's are/should be more open minded and encourage their grandkids to explore the big wide world out there.

There is no chance of this happening as my ds already lives abroad but id hate it if my grandchildren felt they couldn't spread their wings because of me

The thing is it's family and career. In most cases they are separate but in the Royals the Family is the Firm. Much more complicated.

I may have missed it, but how did they fly back to the UK from their six week break? As they came back without Archie, would that not have raised a few questions about why he wasn’t back with them.

Perhaps also that “thank-you” visit to Canada House in London on their return was about something more.

He had already told Charles and asked to speak to the Queen. So the move wasn’t a surprise. But the Instagram post was.

I think it was quite a significant point that they didn't return with son Archie, something the Guardian missed out in the above statement .
