mo there was something about H for apprenticeships.
Does he travel between appointments? Is it to do with travel time?

H for apprenticeships is for National Insurance.
Does he have a leased car? Could it be anything to do with that?

Could it be a travel or car allowance? I know some of our employees that use their own cars for company business get a taxable car allowance on top of their base pay. They still claim business mileage separately. Perhaps if not in the job long it has been realised the payments have been missed and has been back dated.
Or unfortunately an error has been made when the payroll has been input. It’s easy done when it comes to allowances outside of normal pay. I wouldn’t go spending it tomorrow. Best to contact payroll on Monday to get it sorted. If it’s a mistake they will be apologetic and grateful you’ve contacted them.

I’m still not a hundred per cent on what it is but it’s to do with travel time as he’s now been on same base for 2 years so eligible for it. They adamant he should receive it and it’s been back dated which is why it is so high. So good result lol
