On a lighter note i had to google tuppe transfer, as i wondered why a hair transplant would interfere with your work, luckily its just a spelling error.

Saturday opening is something i have never even thought of, as our surgery opens at 830am, and has a late night on a Thursday. So ample time for appointment xx

My cynical view of this is that your GP practice will being getting extra money from the Health Authority in to start up "out of hours" services. They will think its a great idea as long as they don't actually have to do it. GP's tend to stick to what they get core funding for. They are a business.

I am no expert in HR, know a bit as I also do wages for DH but I don't know if they can force anyone to work weekends when it's not been the norm to be open at this time. Change your hours possibly, but days?
Most contracts have a “needs of the business” clause . I find it extraordinary that as it’s NHS there was no union consultation though.

Thanks all. Yes theres an enhanced fee for the business offering extended hours. Thankfully my union rep is fantastic. My contract clearly states the days and hours I work. No flexibility clause or needs of business aspect to the contract or handbook. So they can jog on if they think they can just enforce this. Sad thing is I may have been open to discussion but not so much now.

Apologies one extra E in my TUPE but definitely not a toupee lol, no hair pieces required. Not a tuppe either.
