Tampa Bay Bucs or Tampa Bay Rays..help needed please!

We are planning on going to watch some typical American sport when we visit in August. There is a Bucs match and a Rays match on whilst we are there but we can't decide which one to go to!
Any suggestions would be much appreciated..there will be myself,my hubby and my 2 sons(14&9)
Thanks

both would be great the baseball would be a bit cheaper but there will be more going on at the bucaneers game as it will be early in the season when you go

August NFL games means they are pre-season friendly's. You won't see the "star players" for much of the game and you will see lots of fringe players trying to earn a place on the regular season roster. In my experience it makes the game a bit dis-jointed.

August MLB meanwhile is heading to the business end of the season and hopefully the Rays will be in contention for a play off spot. There are divisional series against New York and Boston in August - both of which means a bigger crowd and better atmosphere

I'd take competitive baseball over pre-season NFL every time.

Only downside is The Rays play in St. Pete's which adds a bit to the journey.

Yeah we decided on the baseball... we watched Bucs preseason last year on tv, and main players only played 1st quarter. I might check out UCF Knights fixtures though...nearer and I assume cheaper.

Thanks for all your comments.
Think we will opt for the baseball then..didn't realise the football was pre-season.

I would suggest the baseball. The atmosphere is fantastic! We went to both the baseball and football in September last year. We managed about 15mins at the football in the stand as it was way too hot... Even locals were leaving! Most people were at the concession stands under the seating to stay out of the sun. It was uncomfortable and could never have expected it to be that bad. Also, a lot more expensive than the baseball.
