It seems they applied for a patent way back in 1994!

"Patent info: Patent 5,327,521

A need thus exists for a high quality voice transformation system that can convincingly transform the voice of any given source speaker to the voice of a target speaker. In addition to its use for motion picture and television productions, a voice transformation system would have great entertainment value. People of all ages could take great delight in having their voices transformed to those of characters such as Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck or even to the voice of their favorite actress or actor. Alternatively, an actor dressed in the costume of a character and imitating a character could be even more entertaining if he or she could speak the voice of the character."

I watched the film of this and it does look absolutely fantastic.

I can just imagine how long the Qs will be to see them, and how do you get the children to leave, once they start talking to them!

Completely agree with you! I thought it looked a bit like something out of Doctor Who in the vid...

I love the fact that you can just give them a hug and not feel silly - especially as we are a party of adults! The human characters make me feel awkward - especially when all they can think to say is 'What is your favourite ride' in a patronising tone... so I avoid them at all costs! I don't want to have to avoid all characters!

Plus language is an issue! What will the non-english speaking children think when Mickey can talk to the people in front, but not them?

I think this is a great idea... as it makes the character more approachable and acceptable to kids upon listening to Mickey's friendly persona.

Its a nice touch and should be implemented immediately.

Such a great idea...my concern is how will I explain to my DS that 1 year Mickey can't speak and on the next visit he can ? Mind you he's 5 now so probably by the time they roll this out in Orlando he probably won't believe anyway

I'm sorry, but this is unnatural. I'm 18, and when they didn't talk it was a lot less, well, scary. The moving mouths make me feel uneasy, and I just think that the younger kids will be scared by it too!
