"There maybe something there, that wasn't there before" - Pre Trippie - Part Five- Oct/Nov 2015

Well Hello

It has been an incredible few months and I have neglected to update the pre trippie mainly because I wasnt sure we would even make it on the trip.

Nic fell poorly with what we thought was pneumonia so off he trundled to the doctors to be sent to the hospital where he was admitted and stayed for a week. In that week things went from bad to worse to mediocre. Nic was diagnosed with Vasculitis a rare (1 in a million in the UK) disease where his immune system attacks the small and medium blood vessels in his kidneys and his lungs. We were advised on various occasions he would not be fit to fly although Nic's health was much more important he was devastated he had worked so hard for this holiday and he felt it was all lost (although our insurance would cover it). Nic was prescribed a shed loads of tablets and sent home with a review appointment with the consultant, after being told that if his kidneys did not respond to the steroids he may need to start chemo and if still no better he would need to be aware that he might need dialysis and/or a kidney transplant

Roll on a few weeks and about 3 weeks before we were due to fly Nic and I were sat in the consultants office waiting to hear if he had the go ahead to fly. We waited with baited breath to be told he wanted to see the outcome of some blood tests, so we waited and waited some more when we finally had an email back to say that although his kidney function had not improved nor had it got worse, but his inflammatory has lowered and he was happy to say we could travel. So we started to get excited again but first we needed to upgrade the travel insurance to cover Nic as he now had pre existing medical conditions. We went through boots who gave the best price and covered him for ten million medical cover (and lots of other things but it was the medical cover we were most cautious of) for just £98. I will remain covered on the insurance we have through the bank account.

It seems surreal we get to go, Nic is feeling stronger and stronger with each passing day and although I have concerns about him getting around the parks he has agreed that if he feels he needs it we will rent a wheelchair, who cares how you see Florida as long as you see it

We now have 5 days until we head to Gatwick for the night. In the last week we have completed our MNSSHP outfits which Nic looks awesome in his, but you'll have to wait to see the night of photos so you can see it for yourself , I have had to order some new shorts for Nic and a couple of new tshirts too, but today I packed us up. Nic's suitcase is fully packed and he is ready to go, all that needs doing is his hair trimmed (we will do this ourselves with the trimmers on Thursday night) and his smellies packed.

I packed the majority of my case too but I still use things I need to take (how does that happen?) but the majority is all packed and ready to go. We sat down today and printed out EVERYTHING we need to have except coupons I am hoping to sign up for coupons from the restaurants we want to eat at outside of Disney.

So I think we are ready. Just 4 more days of work (2 for Nic) and then we will be putting the dog in the Kennels, saying a quick hello to my mum (she is currently on her own holiday in Spain) and then back to gather up the last minute bits and pieces before heading to Gatwick. I am still not as excited as I should be this close but I think due to the rubbish few months I wont believe and feel it until we are above the Atlantic on Saturday.

Oh also I picked up Dawn French's new novel "According to yes" for the plane, I am hoping it will keep me occupied during the flight as the films on the plane I had ear marked are also showing on the cruise (Inside Out and Tomorrowland) and I REALLY want to see them in the threatre's on the cruise because they look incredible.

I'm sorry this has been a lot of talk but its all added to the feeling of the holiday and reminds us how lucky we are to be going and that Nic's health has improved enough to allow it

This will be my last pre trippie next up will be the actual trip report in which I intend to be as thorough as possible with both food (I know you all like food photos) and costings.

Omg what a sweet start to a trip, I so pleased Nick is getting better, I am sure the lovely Florida Sun will works its magic, have an amazing trip, you both deserve it.
