October 2021 price increases eye watering! High demand?

We booked a few weeks ago through BA for two weeks in October half term, flying 16/10 and coming back 30/10. 2 adults and a 13 year old, cost us £2190 for flights and hotel. Checked the prices today and it’s skyrocketed to £5200! Also checked Virgin holidays and no direct flights were even showing for those dates (London flights). Obviously demand for October has massively increased since the vaccine has been announced and this is being reflected in the prices.
So relieved we booked early as we would have been priced out. Slightly worried for 2022 prices but hoping it will all have settled price wise by then!

A few weeks ago BA had some very competitive fares - long before Virgin even released their flights and many Dibbers took advantage of them especially the fly-drives or packages to include 1 nights hotel or car hire to enable them just to pay a deposit.

You will be right it will be as it is half term - many people who were unable to travel this year have changed to 2021 and add to that people who want to go for the 50th Anniversary means high demand. Also don't forget that Virgin will have only just released their end of October flights in the last couple of days so may not have released all of their lowest fares.

This is usually the most expensive time to book - just before the xmas/new year sales

It’s the 50th anniversary in October as well. When we were looking at dates to move our holiday to, it was insane how much the prices jumped from September to October.

We're doing Nov/Dec 2022 and have been doing dummy bookings for the same time next year to get an idea of flight prices etc and almost burst out laughing with some of the results I got back!

You’re not wrong. I booked a flydrive for three I think a couple of days after the vaccines were announced now £700 more expensive. However prices go up and down all the time

We have paid £1700 for a family of 5 with BA. Just checked and for the exact same dates it’s now just over £4300!

I've booked a hotel with Disney and flights with BA, booked this 1 week before the vaccine was announced! Our flights were £500pp return (direct and from LGW) and the hotel is coming out at £1,800pp so £2,300pp all in.

I'm really happy with that especially as I have no seen how the flights have skyrocketed in price!

We only stay on site as we love the bubble! Did look at Disney partner hotels in the Disney springs area which was significantly less and we did look at Dolphin (glad we didn't go for that now!) but we just couldn't not stay on Disney property
