Had the same thing with bulging discs in the lumbar area
In the end I paid to go to a chiropractor. He was telling me the pain would subside but would come back if I didn't get my spine realigned
After 6 session I can honestly say I have had no further issues with my back. Might be the placebo effect but either way no further pain from 2 years ago

Get medical advice OP has to be the overarching advice- don’t take it off a forum, I used to do a lot of work in this exact area with one of the countries leading spinal surgeons and know quite a bit about it, and there are some semi wrong views given already which may be unnecessarily scaring you. A large minority of the population has bulging or prolapsing discs, many asymptomatic and often wrongly attributed to some unrelated pain after MRI so try and see someone good. For example, you will often still see doctors describing discs as shock absorbers which shows the lack of knowledge of biomechanics in this area by some so called experts. Many times the pain will go away on its own IF it’s caused by bulging or prolapsed disc but you need a good doctor to review.

This is so good to read. My DD has this problem and has arranged for 12 sessions with a chiropractor but due to lockdown she hasn’t started yet.

It would be amazing if it has a similar effect for her. She’s only 19 and it’s really awful to see her in pain.

I apparently have a slipped disc and although I've seen my Dr twice about it they wouldn't send me for a scan to confirm it. I was meant to start physio but that was cancelled because of covid-19, physio called me and said do specific exercises from YouTube for it. I did those and it set off really bad sciatica, couldnt sit down or walk for ages! 6mths down the line and i still get pain, sometimes it's there all the time jn a dull ache or sometimes it's a short stab. Considering paying for a private scan just so I know for sure whats happening jn there before I start seeing someone like a chiropractor!

My biggest concern is that I cant do any of the big rides when we do eventually make it back to Florida!

I paid privately for an MRI, I paid about £800 for that and consultations but once the bulging disc was confirmed, the consultant couldn't refer me back to the nhs for treatment. Paid about £1600 for pain block injection which didn't fully work but then had another on the nhs.
That was 13 months ago and I just get a twinge now. Did universal rides in Feb and was ok.

I looked it up for my area and it says from £400. The "from" part bothers me a bit but I dont feel I've much choice if I cant be referred for one!
Glad you managed to do the universal rides, thats what I'm aiming for!

The consultant charged £200 and I saw him a couple times as well. I'd do it again if I had to as I had the pain all the time for about a year. After the pain block injections I could do the physio, then hydrotherapy and I saw a PT at work who was brilliant. It must be nearly 2 years since it all started and I'm 99% back to normal.

I booked Florida when I could walk for about 10 minutes but by the time we were there I did all the rides I wanted apart from the water ones.

30 years ago I damaged my back at work, they were brilliant.
They got me to a Specialist, I "walked" in and he shouted to his secretary "Bring the gun in Judith this ones had it"
Anyway after a scan revealed two damaged discs he operated and fingers are still crossed it's been brilliant since.
Get some twinges now and again and it's been painful recently but do my exercises and generally gets better.
I hope you find your cure.
