Travel Day - Part 2
We flew economy with Virgin on the way out and this was the menu: I'd read a review of the vegan vegetarian option before we left and liked the sound of it, so pre-ordered that for myself. From the menu choices, Izzy chose the chicken and Andy and Brodie both chose the macaroni cheese with pancetta. Mine came out first: Spinach dumplings with cannellini beans and potatoes with olives, side salad, raspberry gelee and some apple crisps. This was pretty tasty. There were some olives with the potatoes, and I'm not really an olive fan, so I took them out. The cannellini beans were in a spicy tomato sauce, which had nice flavour too. I also enjoyed the gelee and apple crisps. Izzy's chicken in mushroom sauce: She enjoyed this, but didn't like the GU pot. Andy and Brodie's macaroni cheese with pancetta: They both enjoyed this too, and Andy ate both GU pots All in all, for plane food it went down pretty well Afternoon tea was served later. Again, mine came out first and was a houmous and roasted vegetable wrap, a cocoa bar made with fruit and nuts and a pot of pineapple pieces. The wrap was really tasty, but I didn't eat the bar or pineapple as I wasn't particularly hungry. Everyone else had a seeded roll with tomato, mozarella and pesto with a sultana scone, jam and cream. Brodie wasn't hungry, so didn't eat his, but Andy and Izzy both enjoyed them. There were no fab ice lollies this time round, and a mini pack of Skittles was handed out instead. So, for plane food, it was okay overall We cleared immigration and luggage collection quickly and were soon on the MDE and on our way to CBR. After settling in to our room and unpacking, we popped to Centertown to get something to eat. We were all pretty hungry so had a meal each: Me: an adult portion of the child's chicken bowl with rice, black beans, corriander-lime tofu crema (sauce!) and a tomato and cucumber salad. This was really tasty. The chicken was spicier than I thought I would be for a child's dish, and the sauce was really good. I'd happily eat this again. Izzy - braised beef stew with rice, black beans and green beans: Wed originally got this for her and Andy to share, just in case she didn't like it. We'll, she loved it and devoured the lot! So Andy ordered himself a bacon cheeseburger with fries: He thought this was good and the burger was thicker than a normal Disney burger and very juicy. Brodie also had a plain burger with lettuce and tomato and fries. He doesn't actually eat chips/fries, so Andy at those too. He really enjoyed it too and declared he could easily eat another 3. At CBR, you can't swap your drink for a snack, and I do think this will make quite a difference to how we use up our credits. It's a shame, as it really did make them stretch further. I'm sure we'll be fine though Tomorrow is Be Our Guest, snacks, Centertown at CBR, Blaze and Ghiaradelli.

I think the plane food looks really nice. Particularly the vegetarian option.
Is this something new the jam that comes with the tea to be in a packet? Or is it only PE and UC get it in a jar? The food at CBR also looks excellent. Lets be honest their Quick Service meals are good value and in many cases better than table service fare. A nice start to your holiday.

Yes, the plane food wasn't bad at all. In fact we had to bin 2 sets of boots meal deal sandwiches as we didn't need them in the end. Better to be safe than sorry though! Not sure about the jam, but I guess a squeeze packet makes more sense with the EC option as it all comes in a little box.
Based on the single Neal we've had at CBR, the food has improved vastly from our last visit. Hoping to try some of the Spyglass Grill offerings too

Think I'd have struggled to pick something off the menu on the plane. We flew in August and the menu was different then as we both had Chilli. I wonder why CBR don't allow you to swap your drink when the other resorts do, we swapped our drinks a lot at CSR.

Great start. Weird just that resort won’t let you swap.
