Monterey and Carmel ,17 mile dr,whale watching, fantastic aquarium, pebble beech.
For Yosemite or Monterey you will arrive about mid day or slightly after ,after you get your bearings you will then have the evening and next full day if you do a 2 night stop and then of the next morning, this is why we would suggest 3 n if possible.
Yosemite do the valley floor tour. Walk to El Capitan ,walk up to vernal falls and down the John Muir trail, glacier point view point 10,000 ft, tioga pass. Before you go watch the film free solo, amazing and you will look in wonderment as how can somebody climb 3000 ft without ropes.
Great advice, thank you!
I am now considering something along these lines...
San Francisco 4 nights
Yosemite 3 nights
Monterey 3 nights
(travel day between Monterey and Santa Monica probably stop at Pismo beach and/or Santa Barbera)
LA 4 nights (Santa Monica or Burbank)

However this now doesn't include Disney or San Diego..

Between Monterey and Santa Monica, the usual is the Pismo Beach, San Luis Obispo area.

If you want a hotel experience that you will never forget, Madonna Inn.

This August we have chosen the Lighthouse Suites at Pismo.

With this in mind i just wanted to post to hear people's experiences of doing a west coast trip as this is something I'm definitely considering! If not for this year then for in the future 😊
It will just be my partner and I going and we would like to drive for some of the trip.
We would definitely like to visit the following places:
San Francisco
LA (not keen on staying a long time here as I've heard its not great but was thinking Santa Monica and possibly burbank for WB studio tour)
Anaheim for Disney
San Diego
Im so glad you asked this as i am doing the same thing and trying to plan something, although i am still working full time. i'd probably have the whole thing and more planned by now if i wasnt

We also would be just the 2 of us and looking at doing;
San Francisco
Yosemite
Monterey
A quick stop at Venice Beach (where the Muscle Beach gym is, fiancé a gym buff)
LA
Vegas
Disney
Universal

That seems like alot now ive written in down

Skinny baby for your trip
perhaps a circular trip.
Fly in and out of the same airport.
Ie LA do your Disney at start or end.
So drive to Vegas
Then to Yosemite via Death Valley and in via tioga pass.
Onward to San Fran , Monterey and down the coast
Or of course fly into San Fran

Me too, in holiday planning mode! I’m thinking SF, Anaheim for Disney and then LA and home!
