If you are going via Palm Springs , you have to do the Ariel Tramway.
In fact I would go that way just to do it Eg do San Diego - Palm Springs - Grand Canyon - Vegas then onwards I also really enjoyed the old town trolley tour in San Diego Some pictures in my photobook in my signature to whet your appetite

Oh yes the old town trolley tour, I forgot about that one. I had a day trip to San Diego on my own and bought my ticket on the day (I think I could have saved a few dollars by pre booking online).
It’s a fantastic way of seeing the city, the guides are very knowledgeable and most of them with a great sense of humour. I got off on Coronado Island to visit the famous Hotel Del Coronado and also in the Old Town. If I had more time I would have loved to of explored Balboa Park |

My trip report is in my signature and will give you more details of all the things we did last year.

Agree certainly Alcatraz when the tickets first come available. We did the night tour... highly recommend. We also pre-booked whale watching from Monterey and of course the Disney tickets.
Also pre-booked the HoHo bus at Sam Fran. Think that was everything! We did similar trip in 2016... trip report is on here. Happy to help if any questions! Edited at 08:38 PM. |

Although pricey - I'd recommend Dylans tours in SF, its a great day out and they take you to some great sites, they even drop you off by the Alcatraz ferry which you can do on the same day.
