Hertz Bankruptcy?
Evening all
Just read on the news that Hertz has entered in to a very specific type of bankruptcy arrangement. The article didn’t clarify how that affects those with a US car hire booking, if at all. Has anyone got any further understanding of the situation? We have a booking with them for August, pay on arrival, and I was waiting for our flight to be cancelled before then cancelling the car hire booking. Just wondering what, if anything, I need to do with it.

Hertz are in Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which allows them to continue to trade whilst they come to agreement with their creditors.
Most of the American airline companies have gone through this in the past.

It’s debts are untenable, but it owes too much to fail so eventually I expect restructuring and it’s lenders taking a big hit.

Thanks both, so no action needed from me at the moment, and just cancel online when my flight for August is inevitably cancelled on the next month or two?

Apparently it only relates to the US, not UK Hertz, if that helps.
