Have had a quote from Florida Car Hire for £179 for 1 weeks hire for a 4 door compact, picking up from the Econlodge near to our hotel in Kissimmee.
Presumably loads of you have arranged separate car hire and I was wondering if it all worked out OK? Otherwise I will wait until I get out to Florida and book it through the Virgin rep? Why am I worried so much about hiring a car in USA but wouldn't think twice about hiring one, say in Majorca? Your views would be much appreciated, together with a soothing voice of reason, only 37 days to go and I'm beginning to get myself in a bit of a tizz!! Spider Amerihost, Maingate West April 2002 . |

not much help I'm afraid as I've only ever hired thru Virgin as part of their package. I can add a soothing voice though if that helps? .

I,ve hired loads of cars independantly, its no problem at all.
Ask SUN CHASE for an alternative quote, currenty showing Compact 4 door with GOLD cover @ £151. I used them last Christmas and all went well.

We have hired loads of times in the us not as part of a package and all has been ok.
Just a word of warning though - it is best to try to reserve it before you go. This year our trip coincided with the Daytona race meet and our hire guy said there wasn't a spare car to be had in the area! So if you are going at a busy time, book ahead! .

I would book it over here because the insurance costs if you wait until you get there will be much higher.
I've had a quote from choiceair which was v. good - An Economy 2 door with Fully Inclusive Insurance which includes CDW, $1 million SLI and all taxes pre-paid is £288 for 16 days. In fact, you've just reminded me that I really ought to ring and book it. bev |
