London lunch

We are having a day out in London on Sunday and looking for somewhere to have lunch. We will just be strolling around central London with no definite plans. We do not want a Sunday lunch and ideally not a chain restaurant. Any suggestions please?
Thanks

Daughter took me to London for my 50th last month , we went to San Carlo Cicchetti in Covent Garden, it’s an Italian restaurant where the food is served tapas style , there were two of us and they advise to share 4 plates which we did , food was amazing and reasonably priced …..I’m used to Yorkshire prices lol, staff were amazing and the restaurant atmosphere was lovely

A friend who knows her genuine Italian food recommends that place. We didn’t have a great experience there but that was several years ago now.

We like some of the Japanese places off Leicester Square - great big bowl of ramen with excellent broth. Kanada-Ya or Shoryu are both great, though tiny.

We went to boulevard brasserie after seeing a dibb recommendation, for an evening meal. Just off Covent Garden. I pre booked using open table and got a discount offer so it was good value for the location and food. This was a weekday early evening meal though.

If you like Indian food then Dishoom is lovely and near Covent Garden.
I’d avoid Maxwells as it’s very over priced burgers and ribs.

We had a great bottomless brunch at Hard Rock Cafe opposite Marble Arch. I'd bought a voucher from Groupon so it was also brilliant value. You would need to book though.

I'll second Dishoom. There is the Covent Garden one and also at Kings Cross. We couldn't get a booking at either in December so went to German Gymnasium at Kings Cross and we really liked it

I love NOPI in Soho, also Dishoom and German Gymnasium at Kings Cross.

Another vote for Dishoom at Covent Garden, it is lovely.
We ate at Fishworks in Covent Garden a couple of months ago and had a really lovely meal. They do a 'Free Flowing Sunday' deal which is a 3 course meal and free flowing wine and prosecco. The food was excellent and the staff were really lovely. They have a branch on Swallow Street just off Regent Street too.
