Alamo Brits are having a laugh. £770.78 for a Standard SUV (July/August dates for 14 days) whereas the same thing through Virgin Holidays is £449.54 !

Funnily (or weirdly), I never have any luck with VH/VA for car rental - they are always more expensive than Alamo Brits for me, sometimes a lot more expensive: Right now £40 more expensive for 15 days in May than what Alamo Brits is at the moment though both considerably more than I booked for back in November.

Currently for our Nov/Dec trip VH wants £597 for 17 days for a full size car, with Alamo Brits quoting £418.

I'm more familiar with the price of a full-size car, where personally I consider anything below £22/day a great price, £22-£24/day a good price and £24-£26/day 'acceptable'.

For our 15 days in May we need a standard SUV, which we got with Alamo Brits at £22.60/day - which I consider a great price.

At the moment Alamo Brits comes in at £24.59/day for a full-size car for 17 days in November/December. I don't think it's too bad a price, but also don't think it's a great price.

If I tack a car rental on to our flight/hotel booking via BA they quote me £368 for a full size car with Avis. At £21.65/day I think it's a great offer, the only reason I'm hesitating is (1) it's non-refundable so locks me in and (2) it has to be paid in full. (The multi-booking 'loophole' with BA doesn't save me enough to make having to switch cars worthwhile.)

Alamo Brits is quoting almost £300 more than what I'm paying with Alamo through Discount Florida Car Hire for 15 nights in July for an intermediate SUV. I only booked the car about 10 days ago.

If you book through Discount Florida car hire can you still do the online check in fast track thing so you can go straight to the garage?
