October 2021 thoughts?

Hi all, we are about to finally accept defeat for our October 2020 trip and cancel.

October is the only time of year that works for us, but I was always worried October 2021 would be too busy so we’re thinking of 2022.

I’m now thinking that 2022 is too long to wait, and reconsidering 2021.

Am I overthinking the crowds? Has anyone else booked October 21 (or not) and if so what are your thoughts on the anticipated high number of visitors?

I just don’t think I can wait another 2 years!

(This is assuming COVID will be under control by then, which is the bigger issue, but I’m trying to get my head around the crowd issue first!)

I am hoping to travel in October 2021 but probably to Disneyland. I know there are 50 year celebrations at WDW but I think the crowds will continue to be low:

US unemployment will mean vacations are at the bottom of the list
Ongoing concerns about travel / public spaces are likely to still be preventing some people travelling
Compelling reasons to visit in 2021 go away as WDW mothball new attractions

My personal view is that the crowds we’ve seen over the last few years won’t return for quite a long time due to the impacts above, but that’s just my thoughts

I can’t see 2021 being as busy as expected, that’s my personal preference through. Last minute bookers I think will think twice unlike before (thinking mainly US citizens). I think it’s a good idea personally, I’m going September 2021 and I’m so excited, I’ve got everything crossed that it all goes well but who knows? In these circumstances everything is a risk but if you book direct with Disney and use reputable companies for flights etc you’ll be fine.

I am planning for the first two weeks in October 2021.

Would never have had this in mind before due to 50th crowds - original plan was April 2022 but can't wait that long after this year being cancelled. I don't believe things will be back to normal by April 2021.

I can take crowds though, if it means getting to go. My main concern is whether masks are still a requirement - I work as a nurse and so definitely don't fancy wearing a mask on my holiday too!

September 2021 for me after November 2020 cancelled. Hopefully back to normal by then. Supposed to be quieter September to November so good luck.

We love that time of year & are also hoping to go Oct/Nov next year but just waiting to see what Disney release as you still can’t book beyond September next year.

I'm booked for the first 2 weeks of November 2021. First time doing WDW since I was 18 months old, will be 31 when I go. Hoping we've got a vaccine by then.
