It's the Virgin Money Travel Credit Card. Although I do use my VA card too for some US transactions, as Curve lets you spend up to £500 a month fee free when linked.

We use Halifax Clarity for all foreign transactions and it’s great.

Thanks! I had Jaja as a replacement for Post Office credit card when they took over and had the worst experience ever (refund to post office card appeared on my online account but not on the account that Jaja had so spent almost 4 months arguing with them over it before finally after going to obsman they agreed it was their fault). I've been looking for a replacement (although can't replace fully until I next September as I still have a cruise booked on it annoyingly).

Well... I've just read online that this now happens in the parks too after a recent change. Everything will be double-charged on a lodged debit or credit card (one as pending, one as the actual charge), with an apparent 1 week drop-off period...

I'm sure we'll be hearing more about this on here! So if you plan to spend $2000 on a credit/debit card linked to your room, make sure you have $4000 available. Perhaps someone can verify if this is true once more people have been back to Disney.

I read on here about similar problems several years ago in hotels and restaurants (mostly offsite). Lots of people had issues with FairFX cards and other prepaid cards. It was one of the reasons we got the Halifax Clarity card, as it doesn’t seem to be an issue with credit cards.

Yeah I think most credit cards although they post pending charges it doesn't actually block the credit up in the same way it does on a Debit card.

I'd be curious to know this for sure.

I've been reading some horror stories on FB - a UK woman was just using her credit card (NOT lodged) and apparently couldn't pay for her dinner at Epcot. They'd double-charged everything and it exceeded her credit limit. So, despite careful budgeting she was stuck.

I wonder if this needs a dedicated thread? We could find out if this is actually happening to Dibbers at WDW.

I'm sure there were threads a few years ago when they first made this change, but I haven't seen anything recently (but of course not many Brits have been able to go recently!)

Found one from April 2019 so the change must have been announced around then.

Yes, it seems to be sometime since my last visit in 2018. I went to Disneyland in California just before Covid, and used a card with no issues (not lodged).

If it's going to be a nightmare using a debit or credit card now, I think I'll consider just taking all cash. Never understood why things like this have to change 🤷
