I’m just back from 6 days in Washington. It’s a fabulous city, so clean and beautiful buildings.

A few years back we flew to DC and had some time there, drove to Rehoboth Beach (we enjoyed it there and had a day trip on the ferry to Cape May) then to Virginia, where we stayed at a ski resort (it was summer though) renting a house in Wintergreen in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The latter area is extremely rural and people are sometimes living in what we'd call shacks in the middle of nowhere. Some very good breweries around there, which I sampled of course.
DC is wonderful, make sure you sign up in advance to the Capitol building tour. I want to go back one day without the kids so I can spend more time in all the museums.
