Sorry can't give any advice on managing 6 children. Our two are parents themselves.
Assume that you're flying either VS or BA in order to do twilight check-in? Basically all passengers need to be there with passports. Your luggage is weighed, tagged and disappears through a hole behind the clerk never to be seen again until MOC baggage carousel. You are also given boarding cards. If you've driven and you car is still accessible on flight day you can take overnight stuff back to the car. If not you may consider travelling in old undies and ditching them. On flight day you don't go anywhere near the airline check-in desk just straight through security with cabin bags. Mick

only advice I would give is the following. If you are not doing meet and greet car parking get dropped of a the terminal drop off with all the luggage. let whoever is driving go an park the car and wait for them to come back and help.

Sorry never had to do that but as the twilight desk will have closed I guess that you'll need to go to the main check in desk and queue with all the rest on the day.
I'm sure that some Dibbers have experienced it though and hopefully they will spot the thread. Mick

who are you flying with? not having bags overnight is a pain alright but I wouldn't pass up twilight check in for queuing the next morning.
just be clever with your hand luggage. end of toothpaste and other toiletries you can dispose of in room etc. Edited at 11:20 AM. |

If you can do Twilight checkin you have to check in all your bags otherwise you will still have to queue up the following morning.
We think it is great. We have toothbrushes already in our hand luggage and just pack a spare pair of undies to change into. We will travel to the airport in our travel clothes. Gatwick used to have a family security gate, so check out on the website if that is still available. We got diverted through it the first time flying with kids and managed to avoid a massive queue. Also do explain the security screening process to children. My little one got rather upset that she had to stop and stand still and couldn't come through the screening thing with me. |

Have a look at signing up to the MyGatwick website - lots of discount offers and suggestions. A good one is to pay for premium security. Very inexpensive and sometimes there are discount vouchers for it. Very young children are free. You'll breeze through the security process with your 6.
Not sure aif ll the kids have tablets or ipads, but if so, look at installing a drawing app (Procreate is good, but there are free ones too)... then buy some cheap styluses off Amazon and they can sketch and draw non-stop. |

No experience of twilight check in but didn’t think you could do this, ie, twilight check in most bags & then check in the last bag the next morning; isn’t it one of the other?
I understood that twilight check in meant hand luggage only on the day of your flight. But, I could be completely wrong & happy to be corrected! Edited at 10:06 PM. |
