Hiring a car from wdw to Port Canaveral
So we are 90% decided on driving to the port for our cruise this time so we can get there when we want rather than wait for disney transport to pick us up. I was thinking of going with Alamo as they are onsite at disney and can pick us up from the resort. Has anyone done this and how straightforward is the drive? also does anyone know how and where we drop the car at the terminal and do we have to get another shuttle from there garage to the port itself?

Vehicle is dropped off close to the port at 710 Mullet Road. They provide a shuttle bus to the cruise ships.
Just be aware if you intend to collect a vehicle from Port Canaveral and return to a different location, Alamo charge a $160 one way rental fee. |

We are using disney transport at the end so the hire is one way wdw-port canaveral, will we still have to pay the $160? this changes things quite a bit if we do.

No. One way charge is only if you're collecting from Port Canaveral and returning to a different location. (Alamo only)

Do a dummy booking to check. One way fees are usually only for out of state in my experience but you might want to try a different company if Alamo do charge. There are too many people dropping or picking up one way rentals at Port Canaveral for them all to charge that much.
We did two seperate booking for before and after a cruise with Hertz a few years ago and didn't have any extra fees.
