Renewing passport - does anyone know?

So DD is turning 18 in December. She’s going on a School trip to France in Feb. Do I need to get her a new adult passport as she turns 18? Or can she travel in her current in date one

She should be fine to travel on her current one. Our daughter was 18 last month and flew with her existing passport a couple of weeks later. If it wasn't allowed, I'm assuming they'd make their 18th birthday the expiry date, but hers is still valid for another couple of years.

Passport will need to be valid for 6 months though as feb will be after brexit. Just to be sure.

16years old is when a Adult passport starts.

Child passport runs out when it runs out, its not age related. The age related part comes in when you renew a passport where at age 16 you would apply for an adult passport and not a child one.

So other than looking at the expiry date and taking into account any Brexit changes that you may want to consider the age is not relevant.
