Professional Masterchef

Will anyone else be watching along? We caught up on the first two episodes last night. I like the UK format, like the presenters and I only wish the series was longer, the third episode is a quarter final!

We were surprised at the chefs in the skills test that started rolling out ready made pasta before making a start on the ragu! I would have rolled my pasta whilst the ragu was cooking. I feel like having a go at an Arnold Bennet omelette this weekend.

All the right decisions so far, I rarely disagree with a UK Masterchef decision.

There are 21 episodes - there's a quarter final every week until they have a final 12 then semis and finals. It's the same format as last year.

Just started! I like the professionals version. Some are excellent and some can’t really be considered more than heater uppers!
(Past episodes)
Can’t wait to see who’s in this series

We genuinely thought Monica just said ‘the veloute was on fleek’
And had to rewind 😳😆
She actually said ‘the veloute of leek!’

BBC 1 Mon, Wed & Fri. Good first week I thought, the Arnold Bennett did look delicious. Couple of nice looking fish dishes too I'd like to try.

Is it still just me watching this? Yesterday I decided to cook the Omlette Arnold Bennet (thank you again Lesley ).

OMG it was delicious, although I didn’t strictly do Marcus’s version, I did it with traditional smoked haddock. Sorry for half eaten picture, I forgot, we ate it with toasted sourdough. I had to take it out of the pan as we were sharing.

Back to the program, I thought there were some good chefs the first week but not as good since. Regarding the initial skills test, I feel torn between thinking the chefs should do better and the tests being set a bit too niche.

We watch it and generally enjoy it... I see the skills test and the mess some of them make of it, know the nerves get the better of them...
