BA Global Entry
Have always flown with Virgin before & had TSA pre check with them. Just wondering if BA have signed up with Global Entry & if TSA pre check likely with BA at this time.🙂

My understanding is that Global Entry and TSA Pre Check are separate things.
Yiu can get TSA Pre without participating in GE, but if you do have GE then TSA Pre comes as part of that. We have had TSA Pre often but are not members of GE.

And we have Global Entry but weren't automatically given TSA Pre by Virgin last week despite our Known Traveller Numbers being recorded on our VA accounts. Made them reprint the tickets with it on.

The airline has to be participating in TSA Pre regardless of If you have GE or not. BA have now joined as have Thomas Cook.
Even if you have GE and are on a participating airline, there is no guarantee that you will have the TSA Tick on the Boarding card. I have to say though that's only happened once to me in the 6 years I have had GE. The TSA PRE Line is not always quicker either, it depends on the airport and location. I was in OC earlier this year and the PRE line was massive and the normal lines were an almost walk-up. Always look first, don't assume

On my last few USA trips my TSA pre-check (I have GE) has not printed on my boarding card with BA but has with AA... so BA have manually added my traveller number again. Check your boarding card before you leave the check-in desk and they will add it for you. It certainly saves time in Orlando! Per the previous post, some airports have more American travellers who have TSA so the lines can be longer. In Chicago recently I used the 'normal' line & because of the TSA mark I still didn't have to take laptops out or shoes off.

You cannot actually join TSA Pre on its own unless you are a US citizen or lawful permanent resident.
For other foreign nationals, TSA Pre membership can only be obtained via membership of a Trusted Traveler program such as GE. Of course, you can still be given TSA Pre on a flight by flight basis, even if you are not a member, but you don’t control it since you don’t have a KTN. |
